P4 in Pro-AM

Thomas drove an incredible recovery drive to bring in some solid points for the Championship!

The weekend started off strong, with topping the times in overall GT4 in a wet FP1 with this being my first real life experience at the historic track.

This gave us confidence going into qualifying for a good starting position for the race, however due to a large crash by a fellow GT4 competitor, qualifying was red flagged and it was decided that the second qualifying session would not go ahead and instead the starting grid would be determined from pre-qualifying times.

This put us in a strong position as in pre-qualifying both myself and Colin managed to deliver some very promising lap times, resulting in us being P3 overall and P2 in Pro-Am for the start of the race.

It looked to be a good start to the race as the sun was shining, however before the start there was a fault that is being looked into which caused us to drop to the back of the pack.

There was then delays to the start due to a big crash involving the GT3's, meaning a few laps were completed under safety car before the race was red flagged in order to carry out barrier repairs.

Once the race was restarted we knew that there needed to be a big push from both of us in order to get back up through the pack. Colin's stint was fairly uneventful, with the main goal to stay out of trouble and keep up with the cars ahead as much as possible; with 45 minutes to go, Colin then handed the car over to me. During this time I was able to fight my way up through the pack, overtaking 4 cars which were quite far down the road, resulting in us finishing P7 overall and P4 in class.

All-in-all this was a good weekend for me being able to show my pace both in the wet and dry at a track I had never driven at before. I feel confident that upon going back to this track in the future I would be able to further improve on my results, and really look forward to visiting and driving this amazing track again.
