Frustration for Halstead & Holland at Monza After Promising Start to the Season
Paddock Motorsport’s Nick Halstead and Thomas Holland endured a difficult weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza as the McLaren Trophy Europe season continued with Rounds 3 & 4. Despite showing strong pace once again, the pair left Italy empty-handed after contact and a technical issue hampered their chances.
Round 3 – Race 1
After a strong opening at Brands Hatch, Halstead and Holland were eager to carry momentum into Monza. Unfortunately, their race was compromised almost immediately when contact at the start left the #40 McLaren with damage. Despite the setback, the duo refused to retire, limping the car through the full race distance to salvage what they could.
Their determination was ultimately unrewarded when a post-race stewards’ decision excluded them from the points, turning a gritty recovery drive into disappointment.
Round 4 – Race 2
Looking to bounce back on Sunday, Halstead and Holland showed competitive speed once more in the early stages. But heartbreak struck mid-race when a car failure forced them into retirement, ending their weekend prematurely.
Team & Driver Reaction
Holland added: “After the highs of Brands Hatch, this was a real test. We dug deep to get the car to the finish on Saturday, and the team worked flat-out all weekend, but Monza just wasn’t kind to us. We’ll regroup and come back stronger at the next round.”
Looking Ahead
Despite a challenging Monza double-header, Halstead and Holland remain determined in their pursuit of Pro-Am success. With proven pace, resilience, and the backing of Paddock Motorsport, the duo now turn their focus to the next stop on the McLaren Trophy Europe calendar.
