brands Breakdown

After a disrupted FP1 and FP2 due to some car problems Colin and Tom both went into a Qualifying session with very limited running.

Colin was up first and despite wondering deep into the gravel on one of his flying laps he was able to finish the session P6 in class. Then it was the turn of Thomas who went out in the gravel bruised Ginetta to set a lap time that put him in the top half of his session but cemented the P6 in class with the combined times. If it weren’t for a spinning BMW on his final run Thomas would have improved to being top 5 in the session and would have moved the pair up to P5 in class.

So this was it the final race of the season and the duo were starting P6 in class looking to go forward and show the true pace of not only the car but the team also. Colin was to start as per the regulations and did a great job avoiding all of the standard Brands Hatch first lap carnage.

Colin then continued to drive an incredible stint which left Thomas coming out in P2 in class after the stops. Unfortunately Thomas spent most of his stint behind the safety car but eventually when the safety car came in it left him right behind the class leader.

Thomas chose to send a move up the inside at Paddock Hill bend on the restart allowing him to take P1 in class with 10 minutes to go. Tom then did a great job at pulling a gap on the car behind which eventually solidified P1 in class thanks to the other Ginetta in the field, a car not in our class, got in between us and P2 in class.

Thomas and Colins incredible stints allowed this result to happen and it was a deserved result for all the team and both the drivers after the year that they have had.

Thomas’s Thoughts

“Brands Hatch showed people what we’re capable of with a much deserved result of P1 in Pro-Am, all of this is thanks to the CWS Racing team and Colin driving a monster of a stint!

This year happened thanks to all my sponsors and my family supporting me through the good and the bad. Now it’s time to prepare for 2025!”
